Ways to decrease screetime!!
One fine day, I was having a conversation with one of my friends and he was telling how he spends his weekends/free time on rejuvenating and upskilling perpetually which is helping him grow in his career. That call changed the way I spend my free time and get control over my life.
A little back story on how I'd spend my free time, only thing I used to do is watch Netflix and surf Instagram ( no kidding) .I used to not go out for a walk, hike, in general stepping out of my house or trying/learning something new. My perspective on living life was completely different back then than now. I'd say , I was addicted to Netflix, Instagram.
Fast forward 4 months, I'm in a better place and have control over myself. I couldn't care less about Netflix and Instagram. I'm now the captain of my life to decide how and when I use Netflix and Instagram not the other way around. I'm gonna share what steps / lifestyle changes I've made to be able achieve this.
1. Find a stubborn person whom you can trust:
You heard it right!!!!!
Why to find a stubborn person? , because it is hard to convenience/trick them. So, what we have to do with them? Sit tight and read further to know more.

When the thought of decreasing the screen time hit my mind, I was not sure on how to start and where to start but one day my brother changed the passcode of his mobile just because I started using his camera , he was very determent of not sharing it with me again(of course he is extremely stubborn) .That's when I thought , why not make my brother change the password of my Netflix and Instagram account and ask him to unlock only at certain points of the day. I know to do this , you have to rely on the person whom you can trust. However, once you are under control , you can be on your own and stay focused. This trick helped me a lot.
Yes, I used to cheat at times when he is not around and spend bit more time watching series or surfing Instagram but it is all a phase and it will get better. So, find a trustable stubborn person and make them change your accounts password and ask them to unlock it only and only when needed and lock it again. Stay obedient!!!
2.Find a hobby to fill the void:
Decreasing the screen time doesn't mean you have to concentrate on your career itself, you can do more like going out for a walk, hike..etc
During the initial stage of this "operation decrease screen time"( sorry, I couldn't find any cool nameπ), when you don't know your account password , you might feel lost and that's when you will lost track and give up. But, when you have a hobby then you can divert your mind. So, find one or two or how many as you want and keep yourself busy.

3. Enroll in an online course:
Taking up an online course which improves your knowledge and helps you reach heights in your career. This is a great way to keep yourself busy and on the other hand you are learning something useful. You don't have to burn yourself, just spend 2-3 hrs a day during weekend and 30 mins during weekdays if you have time.
Hey, you can take any online course even if it is not relevant to your career.
4. Don't watch multiple new series:
This is for those who are addicted to Netflix, if you are someone who is very addicted to Netflix like you watch multiple new series at a time, try this method and thank me later.
I personally stop watching new series all together when my schedule is super busy or just in general to detox, the reason being, if I watch the series which I have already seen, I will not have that curiosity build and binge watch all episodes in one day( I literally watched multiple series in a day). You don't have to do like me. This is what you can do instead, just watch one new series at a time and gradually get into Netflix detox where you completely stop watching new series as in when needed with obedience ( obedience is the key here).
The reason me doing complete detox is that, it helped me focus on my right goals and not to procrastinate important thing while watching Netflix.
These are the few steps that I have followed and genuinely helped me achieve control over my life by decreasing the screen time and I hope these tips will help some or the other person out there.
